We are dedicating our first #BrusselsCalling media debate of the year – and our first as SEC Newgate EU – to the challenges that journalists face in making sense of the EU for readers both inside in Brussels and beyond. Already, the job of the journalist is not easy, with fierce competition and relentless deadlines, but the need to decode highly technical EU-speak swiftly and accurately makes it that much harder.
We are delighted that European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas will moderate our online panel. A former chief spokesperson for the Commission, Schinas is well placed to turn the table on our journalist panellists and quiz them on how they cover the likes of strategic autonomy, digital sovereignty, taxonomy, Fit for 55, trade defence instruments and so on.
